Classic Ireland -
spend a week walking and touring in the counties of Galway and
Mayo and on the Atlantic islands of; Aran, Omey, Clare and Achill
exploring the diverse landscapes and culture of the western seaboard
of Ireland.
Itinerary in brief
Day 1
Arrive and meet in Shannon. As an introduction to Ireland
we tour through the mighty Clare landscape, including the Cliffs
of Moher and the Burren. Overnight Ballyvaughan.
Day 2
Around Galway Bay to take a short flight to Inismor, the
largest of the Aran Islands. These remote islands lie at the mouth
of Galway Bay and have a unique landscape of bare limestone, thousands
of miles of stone walls and tiny cultivated fields. An afternoon
walk before settling in to the islands best guesthouse. Overnight
Inismor.
Day 3
A full day to explore the remarkable depth of both human and natural history
on this unique, stonefaced island. Through thousands of years of habitation here,
the interaction between islanders and their environment is one of the most dramatic
anywhere in the world. We follow tiny pathways through a labyrinth of dry stone
walls and walk along the great sea-cliffs to the ruin of the ancient fort, Dun
Aengus. Overnight Inismor.
Day 4
Return to the mainland and head north through the blanket bogs and lakes of north
Connemara into the mountainous area of the Twelve Bens. We take a good walk in
the hills and hear stories of the rich heritage and history of this land. Overnight
Clifden
Day 5
A morning of archaeology as we stroll through fields with a renowned local expert.
We spend the afternoon on Omey Island with a great walk along the strand. Overnight
Clifden.
Day 6
Heading north into the wilds of County Mayo through glens steeped in history
and folklore for an afternoon hike on offshore Clare Island. The archaeology
and natural history here is outstanding and we explore it with a walk following
the great sea cliffs which dominate the northwestern shore. Overnight Westport.
Day 7
A day to study the extraordinary heritage and ritual associated with Ireland's
most holy mountain, Croagh Patrick. There is an opportunity to make the pilgrimage
to the summit, or other gentler walking options. Overnight and farewell dinner
in Westport.
Day 8
Transfer to Shannon for your flight home.
This tour can be operated at the time of your choice for your group. This price
is for group of four to eight people. Please call for prices for smaller or larger

$3250.00 per person.
($500.00 single supplement).
The cost includes seven nights accommodation in guesthouses; breakfast and 5
