One of our very favourite places on Earth, this region comprises of the wildest and most rugged land and seascapes in Ireland.
It is a place of rugged mountains, deep, interesting valleys, indented coastlines, incredible history and archaeology. It is also home to Ireland’s Slow Food community who add taste the wonderful experience of sharing time in rarely visited regions of Ireland.
The Beara Peninsula is a fiercely rugged and beautiful place, rich in archaeology and spiritual importance. It is a place of ancient megalithic monuments; stone circles, holy wells, sacred peaks and more. Our journey through this landscape and its ages will take us along rarely visited by-ways, criss-crossing the gnarled ridge-back of the peninsula at high saddles, like the Healy Pass.
Opportunities to;
- Experience some of the remotest, but most vibrant communities in Ireland
- Meet with some of the many renowned artists and crafts people of the region
- Enjoy a cheese-tasting of internationally acclaimed foods, produced on tiny hill farms
- Experience the picturesque town of Kenmare, possibly dining and whiskey tasting in this gourmet centre
