Cultural Hiking Tours of Ireland
Small, intimate and highly personalized explorations on-foot of extraordinary places throughout the island of Ireland since 1986.
The concept behind Hidden Ireland Tours emerged between friends wandering sacred spaces in Ireland. From having grown up and been inspired by the powerful nature, culture – and magic around him in one of Ireland’s wildest places, co-founder Con Moriarty began whispering invitations to those open to such things, to join him on walks, hikes and climbs. To journey with him to high places and places at the edges of Ireland’s Atlantic regions.
Three decades later, the magic is still there, still honoured and shared and while today our company provides a range of active not-so-active means by which friends might connect with Ireland – that it is best experienced by placing one’s feet into the ground of Ireland remains a core truth. And at special locations in Ireland (where divine beauty awakens body and soul), our small corps of guides share bespoke cultural walking and hiking trips unlike any other, exploring places and insights few even know exist.
In conjunction with our own trips that are personalized and run at anytime to suit a family or small private group, Hidden Ireland Tours has over the years worked with a handful of select partners in providing a range of scheduled cultural hiking trips each year. Of particular joy and pride to us is the relationship shared for three decades now with the outstanding Wilderness Travel based in Berkeley, California, a multiple award-winning innovator and leader in the field of cultural hiking trips. Each year, Con Moriarty, Ann Curran along with Con’s son Naoise lead a number of very special trips in Ireland; The classic ‘Spirit of Ireland’ in the southwest, the ‘Treasures of Ireland’s West Coast’ in the mid-western region around Galway Bay and an exciting trip over the northern half of the country known as ‘The Northern Arc’. (Naoise also leads WT trips at other locations around the world, notably in Norway, the Faroe Islands and in the Alps)
