Country Living Tour;
Ireland South & Southwest

SAMPLE ITINERARY
This Hidden Ireland’s Country Living Tour is a luxury car or mini-coach tour that explores the magnificent south and southwest of Ireland from three world-renowned hotels/country inns; the great estate of Ballymaloe House, the Park Hotel in Kenmare and Dingle’s Castlewood House. It is a leisurely week of exploring some of the most spectacular landscapes and cultural riches with time to walk, bike, golf, fish, shop, culinary delights, castles, gardens and antiquities.

Sample 7-day itinerary

Days 1-2 – Ballymaloe House & Gardens, Cork, Ireland

Ballymaloe House and Gardens are located on Ireland’s south coast in County Cork. Set amid rich fertile lands where the Allen family farmers produce some of Ireland’s finest foods, a stay at this beautiful country house is a special experience.

Nearby is the internationally renowned Ballymaloe International Cookery School, great walking along the lovely cliffs at Ballycotton and of course the port of Cobh, the principle exit point for millions of Irish emigrants over centuries.

Days 3-5 – West Cork & The Beara Peninsula

The region known as West Cork is home to some of Ireland’s most beautiful towns and villages. It is a rugged land where neat farmsteads lie at the heart of Ireland’s fine food industry. It is a land rich in stone circles and stories and it is home to a proud people, many of whom have played a central role in Irish history.

Our base for three nights to explore this area and that of county Kerry around the Killarney Valley is regarded as the “prettiest town in Ireland”. Kenmare is nestled between mountain and sea-shore, it’s a colourful place of galleries, boutiques, fine restaurants, bookshops and cafes and home to the majestic Park Hotel our base for three nights.

Ireland’s Beara Peninsula and the magnificent Killarney Valley are nearby and here the wildness of our landscapes are most dramatic. There will be time play golf here or explore the hills on foot or to simply relax.

Days 6-7 – The Ring of Kerry & Dingle Peninsula
The Ring of Kerry is classic Ireland and this incredible road provides our route west and northwards to the Dingle Peninsula. The antiquities of thousands of years are etched all over these landscapes. If weather allows, we’ll visit the monastic island known as Scelig Mhichíl (Skellig) and stroll on the great strands of Inch. The Dingle Peninsula has been referred to as “probably the most beautiful place on Earth” by one travel writer and it is here that we spend our final days. Here, Gaelic culture thrives; music, song and dance amidst a place and people apart. Castlewood House is set in the unique town of Dingle, near great pubs, award-winning restaurants, galleries and more. The award-winning guest house provides the perfect base – for a perfect end to a great tour that ends on Day 8.
