Walking & Hiking Tours of Ireland
The concept behind Hidden Ireland Tours emerged between friends wandering sacred spaces in Ireland. From having grown up and been inspired by the powerful nature, culture – and magic around him in one of Ireland’s wildest places, co-founder Con Moriarty began whispering invitations to those open to such things, to join him on walks, hikes and climbs, to journey with him to places at the Edge, places at the edges of Ireland’s Atlantic seaboard regions and subliminal edges…
Three decades later, the magic is still there, still honoured and shared and while today our company provides a range of active and less so means by which friends might connect with Ireland, that this is best experienced on-foot to some degree remains a core truth.
Today throughout the island of Ireland, our guides (- including Con Moriarty) create and guide personalized cultural walking and hiking trips for small groups quiet unlike any other, exploring places and insights few even know exist.
In conjunction with our own trips that are personalized and run at anytime to suit a family or small private group, Hidden Ireland Tours also works with a handful of select partners in providing a range of scheduled cultural hiking trips each year.
Of particular joy and pride to us is the relationship shared over since 1989 with the outstanding Wilderness Travel based in Berkeley, California, a multiple award-winning innovator and leader in the field of cultural hiking trips.
Each year, Con Moriarty, Ann Curran along with Con’s son Naoise now lead a number of very special trips in Ireland; The classic Spirit of Ireland in the southwest, Treasures of Ireland’s West Coast in the mid-western region around Galway Bay and over the northern half of the country, the Northern Arc Across Ireland.
(Naoise also leads WT trips at other locations around the world, notably in Norway, the Faroe Islands and in the Alps)
The peninsulas of Beara, Iveragh and Dingle, islands of Skellig Michael and Great Blasket, the mountains of the McGillycuddy Reeks and the Killarney National Park.
